Alma del Mondo — The rebels of Cairo
The artist has brought together 110 portraits of residents of Cairo who all directly or indirectly participated in what is called the Arab Spring.
Characters from different socio-cultural backgrounds: musician, blogger, painter, political activist, minister, grocer or shoe shiner... This portrait of the city through its inhabitants thus appears as a true photograph of history.
Miguel Angel Sanchez seeks to capture the moments of life of the people he meets during his travels and particularly likes to photograph people in the street, after having shared a moment with them. Then an advertising photographer in Madrid, he decided two years ago to settle in Cairo where he began a new, more personal job in his own photo studio.
He was born in Madrid in 1977. Graduated in sculpture, and awarded by the Community of Madrid for his photographic documentary work.
